Danville Child Development Center is a growing leader in Early Childhood Education. We provide child-care services for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age students in Montour, Columbia, Snyder, Northumberland, Union county, and the surrounding areas. With over 50 years of experience, we are the first and only nationally accredited early childhood center in Montour County. DCDC is licensed by the PA Department of Education as a Private Academic Preschool and has also been designated a 4-STAR center rating from the PA Keystone Stars program. As a Teacher, you play a direct role in facilitating a safe, nurturing environment, where children can play and learn. You will develop and implement weekly lesson plans using DCDC's curriculum in a way consistent with each child's development. You will partner and connect with parents with a shared desire to provide their children the best care and education we can offer.

Qualifications: Group Supervisor

• Bachelor or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, or
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children, or
• An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children, or
• An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.

Qualifications: Assistant Group Supervisor

• A high school diploma/GED certificate and two years of documented experience with children, or
• A high school diploma/GED certificate and at least 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and one year of documented experience with children.

Responsibilities:

• Learn, understand, and cooperate with the philosophy of the program.
• Plan and implement a curriculum of developmentally appropriate daily activities.
• Work toward social, nutritional, physical, emotional, language, and cognitive goals appropriate to each child’s need, based upon their individual development.
• Tend to children’s personal needs (feeding, hand and face hygiene, etc.).
• Detect and report children’s ailments including cuts, bumps, etc. on Incident report forms.
• Conduct yourself as a positive, professional role model for others working with children.
• Supervise and interact with children in all activity areas, inside and outside, with an appropriate sense of accountability.
• Responsible for direct supervision of assigned group of children.
• Assist children to be self-reliant and relate to others.
• Supervise and help direct the activities of assistant group supervisors, teacher’s aides, personal assistants, substitutes, volunteers, and others working with children.
• Maintain records or reports that are necessary for the children of the program.
• Conduct parent teacher conferences minimally twice a year or as requested by a parent when a need arises.
• Maintain open and frequent communication and encourage parent involvement.
• Maintain the classroom, equipment and supplies, and center in a continuously neat and orderly fashion.
• Maintain your professional development record on the PD registry at PAKeys.org.
• In conjunction with the Education Director, develop an individualized annual professional development plan.
• Attend and make use of appropriate training as required yearly.
• Maintain up-to-date first aid and CPR certification as required.
• Maintain up to date Mandated Reporter training and clearances as required by DHS.
• Follow policies and procedures according to the Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
• Administer medication per policy to children as requested by parent.
• Responsible for understanding and following NAEYC’s Code of Ethics.
• Follow Department of Human Services, PDE, Keystone Stars, and NAEYC regulations at all times.
• Prompt and regular attendance to assigned area.
• Attend center sponsored meetings, trainings, and/or events as required by administration.
• In conjunction with the Program Supervisor, assist in fostering a team environment with fellow staff and parents.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by Program Supervisor or administration for the efficient quality operation of the program.

Pay: $9.65 - $17.70 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
